Day 3 The story of the man who helped save the Pilgrims from starvation and failure in the new colony.
Today we will continue to look in to how the Pilgrims started settling their colony. The rules were written down in a document called the Mayflower Compact and William Bradford was named the governor of the colony. William Bradford wrote down most of the journey of the Pilgrims from beginning to end in his diary we still refer to today explaining how the first Thanksgiving came to be. For the Pilgrims to eventually get to the first Thanksgiving they had to learn to survive the cold winters and learn to grow crops and harvest food. The story of Squanto helps explain how the Pilgrims received the much needed help from a Native American named Squanto. Do you think the Pilgrims would have been successful without the help of Squanto? At this point in the story would you rather be a Pilgrim or Squanto?
